FLOOR LAMP III
The shape of an ammonite is probably one of the oldest examples of the golden spiral in nature. The inspiration with it is clearly visible in handcrafted Floor lamp III Ammonitis.
In fact, there are as many as 12 golden spirals in this lamp.
UNPREDICTABLE
Designing Process
Creating the pattern of the Ammonitis was like a creative exploration.
Having started with a shape of the golden spirals inscribed in the tetrahedron, I didn’t know where it would lead me. Step by step I was designing the pattern and only after saying “ok, this is good” I was moving forward.
As the result, Ammonitis has an organic character and non-obvious design inspired by the iconic golden spiral omnipresent in nature.
THICKER GOURD
Bigger Challenge
Ammonitis was a challenge also in terms of the carving work because that Guinean gourd was quite thick.
The spiral shapes alluding to ammonite are also shaded and they are inwrought in the whole design making it more spatial.
ANOTHER
Creative Adventure
This unique lamp that makes the light shine through thousands of holes arranged into merging and furcating waves can be an extraordinary mood lighting for living room or bedroom.
Working on this big Guinean gourd was a great adventure and the next step in my work.
The base created by Lech Kostyszak from Unique Wood Design is made of American Nut wood.
